Fallout model: Sustainable food production and living

I’m playing Fallout 4 with 2 mentionable mods: The homemaker mod, and the scrap everything mod. I played like 1500 hours of vanilla Fallout4, then added these two (besides some flora overhaul so the game looks not that desolate, I mean, come on!).

All my playthrough was about reinventing the economy and strengthening my villages to sustain themselves.

Country crossing – where every house is a penthouse

Coming from the road the slopes discretely hide the gardens, but already give you a glimpse of the elevated restaurant, as the city’s main recreational area and tourist spot.

The vibrance of the city

Even if you are coming down from your house for your morning coffee and to listen to the diamond city radio’s morning show, or you are a weary traveller crossing the country, you will find warm soup, and fresh vegetables (due to the village’s sustainable water and food production), and some ice-cold nuka cola here.

Under the restaurant, nesting below the majestic spiral lies the marketplace with a lot of items to spend your caps on.

Bottlecaps (the currency used in Fallout) are much like cryptocurrencies, actually. Lore says that because all the factories are stopped hundreds of years ago there is no technical possibility to manufacture Cola Caps at the time the game plays, so it has a finite amount of supply in the whole world (much like cryptocurrencies) so inflation is impossible in this system (since nobody can print money as banks do now).

The city is designed to connect the marketplace with the recreational area, but also with the industrial side of the town. You can see the scavenging stations in the back for professional recyclers.

Industry and defence

The power generators were set up behind the city so their noise would be more distant, and also they needed to be close to the water since the main export of my settlements is purified water – a much-needed necessity in our modern world.

Infrastructure

Access to the Ethereum network is provided by the highest available standard (literally), the communication tower atop the building provides steady 7G WiFi for all the little Ethereum validators built into the houses.

Our WiFi is so strong that people are actually moving here because of it. Great success!

Accommodation in a future city

The penthouses are serving every possible need a human can want: Warm beds, roofs, and lights.

The perfect view is guaranteed due to the unique architecture of the whole spiral, every window is looking at the sea. It is like you are in a Douglas Adams book.

For partygoers and social travellers, the house on the restaurant level is turned into an Airbnb experience, where non-natives and guests can have a wild night with their crew.
